If you are here I guess you must be looking for some help with your cat having lymphoma. Right off the bat, I want to say that I am not a vet. I have a very good vet and I take his advice. My vet is a man who believes that nothing is impossible and we seek help from the East as well as the West. So mostly you would read about traditional medicines, TCM, herbs, hopes, dreams and very hard work. If you find some help and comfort while you are here, both of us, my cat Megat and I are glad. His kidneys are all clear and his indictaors even for his liver is good. His PCV is 36% (Hurrah) and his TP is 8.2 (not so good) H/w Dr Ly found a lump in his inner right thigh but he said it could just be a lymph and not to worry. Our nect appt is in 2 months on 21/1 to see about the state of the lump.

Will begin a new routine as Megat has no liver nor kidney problems (from his blood test on 7/6)

1 day Sub Q (as usual done on Monday)

3 days suppositories + liquid sang hwang (Tue/Thur/Fri)

3 days rest (Wed/Sat/Sun)

Jun 07 2011: Dr Ly at Balestier

Megat still in remission and looking well. Dr L said that his coat is excellent but he is a little FAT. Medications are still the same:

Medications 5 days week.

1. 2 ml of collidal silver

2. 0.8 ml of sang hwang liquid extract 6.5L

3. 1 sang hwang suppository

4. Nature's Sunshine FOUR for asthma

Our Chemo Journey/Story

YEAR 2011 : STILL IN REMISSION
All good with his lymph nodes. His hydration and coat are good and he is frisky and active. His eyes are a little cloudy due to age. MEDS: Addition: petsalive - Liver and immunity Support and KC Defense (respiratory) Taken out milk thistle extract as he hates it. Giving him Kidney Support as well.

May 22 2009: Dr MP told us that Megat was very well but there was a lump near his intestines.

May 28 2009: Dr MP told us Megat had lymphoma from his ultra sound. Diagnosis - 4 months. Decided on chemotheraphy.

une 2 2009: Vet Dr FP. 1st chemo for Megat - vincristine

July 21 2009: Vet Dr JP L. Dr P went on holiday and so we went to Dr L. Changed chemo protocol to 0.10 ml vincristine, Vit B, sang hwang suppository (for 100% absorption into system) , colloidal silver and 1/4 tab of Lukeran every 2 days. 8 injections of vincristine and 2 weeks rest.

Aug 18 2009: Dr L diagnosed Megat and told us there were no lumps that he can feel in the affected area and no lumps in other parts of his body. Can this be remission?

Sept 15 2009: Our next appointment with Dr L for his 2nd series of chemo.

Aug 25 2009: Megat has fever. Made him drink more water and gave him a cool water mat to rest on.

Aug 27 2009: Fever did not abate.

Aug 28 2009: Saw Dr L. Gave megat antibiotics for infection. Not connected to his chemo but as he was on steroids, he may get an infection. Vibra-vet for 7 days but fever should abate in 4 days.

Sept 3 2009: No more fever.

ept 15 2009: Megat was very anaemic so didn't start the 2nd series. Megat given aranesp to increase blood in marrow. He has to be given the injection once every other day.

Sept 24 2009: Saw Dr L. Megat's gums are still very pale. He is now on Inteferon Alpha-Mutagen for cats which he has to take on alternate days for a week, shark cartiledge suppositories in addition to his sang hwang and colloidal silver supplements. Megat has review on 13 october 2009.

Oct 13 2009: PCV: 30% from 7% and TP is 7.7. Megat does not have to come for weekly visits anymore. Our next appt is one month from now. he is looking well and his lumps have not made a reappearance. He is still on his usual suppositories. All is good :)

Nov 17 2009: Remission from lymphoma of the spleen. Megat has gone through 3 whole months without his chemo drug and he has re-grown whiskers and fur. Dr L said that if there is a relapse, our first line of defence is Inteferon Alpha-Mutagen for cats. He told me that I would need to bring Megat in if he has fever, or he is off his food and of course if I suspect lumps. His next appt is 15th dec 2009. Dr L will be on long leave from the 20th.

YEAR 2010

Jan 22 2010: RECOVERED!

Next Appt: Mar Mar 15 2010

Meds taken to date:

4 days of sang hwang suppositories + supplemets

Supplements: 2.5 ml collodal silver, 2 ml sang hwang liquid, 10 drops of milk thistle for his liver, flax seed oil for his skin and fur, combination of mushroom supplements Natural Defence for his immune system, pumpkin and papaya to regulate his digestive system, 1 ml of duphalac to soften his stools.

Dr L has only rec the colloidal silver and sang hwang although he tells me that it is also good to give him the flax seed oil.

The milk thistle was recommended by the very kind readers of the blog. Other readers had also recommended the pumpkin and papaya mixture and the duphalac as he was extremely constipated last year. No amount of water or milk could solve it and the vet had to give him an enema. Ever since I had given him the pumpkin and papaya mixture + the duphalac, he is able to poo without straining himself. The Mushroom Defence I had given him after reading about it.

We are very grateful to Dr L and all at ARVC.

UPDATE: 15th March 2010

NO LYMPHOMA :)

However, he now has asthma. He had a chest xray and there was some liquid in his right lung. Dr L said it could be due to an allergy. I think its our wool rugs so I have removed them. His right cornea is also a little constricted. However Dr L was not overly concerned and said we should just monitor him closely and I was to bring him in if his coughs worsened.He now has to take some homeopathy meds for his respiratory difficulties. We have another appt in 3 months 8 June 2010.

Asthma Tracking

Only left lung has a little wheeze from the asthma. His right lung is clear.

Asthmatic Cough:March: 1April : 6 to date - 9/4;10/4; 15/416/4; 17/4; 26/4May: 3/5; 7/5;16/5June: 8/6July: 18/7August: 9/8October: 4/10

Action:

March :We have removed the rugs which collect dust and irritate his lungs. May: He is now on renal wet food and dry food but he also gets some 'ordinary' wet food from the other kitties diet. Does not like renal food very much! Decided to alternate renal food and other wet food weekly. Separating him from others may be a good idea but eating together is a better one.

May 8th : He has recycled newspaper pellets in his own litter bin to eliminate dust. 30/5 Would only pee in the recycled litter now but does the Big P in clay litter.

2011January - twice

Daily Meds2 ml sang hwang linzhi liquid (in mashed papaya)[lymphoma0]; 2 ml colloidal silver (in mashed papaya)[lymphoma]; 1 day week sang hwang suppository- now 4 days only minus the day he gets SubQ [lymphoma and fluid];1 capsule FOUR [asthma]1 tablet mushroom Defense [immune system defense]1 capsule cranberry (bladder) 5 drops milk thistle ( liver) NOW replaced with Immunity and Liver Support as well as UTI FreeMegat is also FIV+. I always forget to write about that. He tested positive when I took him in but I figured it would be ok since he has only 1 canine left and the cats all give him a wide berth.

Petsalive Meds1. Immunity and Liver Support Day 1: 16/2 - 1 capsule (to replace the milk thystle that he really hates). He is used to eating capsules so this is easier to give him.

Still in remission. Coat good and well-hydrated. Coughing could be due to hairballs. Gums a little white.

Laxatone 3x a week 2 cm.
